Commemoration on May 3, 2026
On May 3, 2026, the Cap Arcona disaster will be commemorated for the 81st time. A large public memorial event will take place at the Cap-Arcona Honorary Cemetery in Neustadt in Holstein. The program features a speech by Philippe Cosnay, the president of the Amicale française de Neuengamme. Students from the Küstengymnasium Neustadt in Holstein and Thomas Käpernick from the Neuengamme working group will present the biography of Waldemar Nods. The joint choir of the Jacob-Lienau School and Küstengymnasium will provide musical accompaniment to the event. This will be followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Jewish Cemetery on Grasweg in Neustadt in Holstein.
